Holne is typical Dartmoor village famous as the birthplace of Charles Kingsley, author of Water Babies and Westward Ho! It has a good shop a nice pub and sits on the 2 Moors Way footpath stretching across Dartmoor and up to Exmoor.

The church of St Mary Virgin is worth a peep in.
