The Lodge - sleeps 2
The Lodge was newly built in 2013 to create a detached, single-storey holiday cottage for up to two people in the grounds of the owners’ property. The reception room, with its solid wood floor, is light and modern, but very cosy with two sofas and a log-effect stove. The kitchen area is well equipped with all appliances. The bedroom, which has two zip-and-link 3’ beds that can make a large double or two generous single beds, leads to a modern en-suite shower room. Outside there is a table and chairs and a patio area for guests to enjoy the sun. There is also off-road parking in front of the cottage.
The Lodge makes an excellent base for exploring the miles of beautiful moorland, magnificent granite tors, ancient stone circles and mining heritage on Dartmoor as well as the unspoilt beaches of Devon and Cornwall and numerous National Trust houses and gardens all within easy reach. Buckland Monachorum is a quiet village surrounded by beautiful countryside. The local village pub, The Drake Manor, is very welcoming and serves good food and ale. The ancient market town of Tavistock (5 miles) has an award winning Pannier Market and regular farmers markets. Plymouth (9 miles) offers modern shopping malls for those seeking retail therapy, as well as the historic Barbican area.
A well-behaved dog is welcome (but must not be left unaccompanied in The Lodge at any time), for which there is a small charge of £25 per week. Short breaks are available throughout the year for a minimum of 3 nights.
