Fine ales and long tales resound around the pubs on Dartmoor as they probably always have done for the last 400 years or so. Standing at the bars of these Dartmoor pubs you will find some of the friendliest local drinkers in England. Unlike many other rural pub cultures Dartmoor people embrace the touring visitor, born out of a long history of involvement with travelling folk to the beautiful Dartmoor countryside. The pub opens a window into the way of life of the people who live and work on Dartmoor, just listening, but maybe being invited to join in the conversations gives an insight to the pace and way of life lost in the majority of England. The tight-nit Dartmoor community often surprises even the familiar, with functions and parties for appreciated people, summer cricket and world renowned fairs being organised by great numbers of people for little self reward. The hub for the generation of ideas usually being the village pub, fine real ales being the oil for the imagination. So enjoy the Dartmoor pub you choose from the highest hill to the lowest valley a warm welcome from all will be offered.
