High Hopes for Special Needs Adventures
Activity Adventures for 2008

For 2008 we are running four exciting adventure holiday trips. These trips are designed for those with some disability which prevents them from joining mainstream adventure activities. The object is to give the ‘Adventurers’ a sense of achievement and to encourage more independence and self-confidence and above all to have fun. If you are up for an adventure, but need that extra hand to enable you to take part, then this could well be the trip for you!
The only requirements needed to take part are a keen sense of adventure, a willingness to try something different and a good sense of humour!!

Dartmoor Multi-activity Experience

A six day adventure based in the middle of Dartmoor National Park. Canoeing, climbing, walking, abseiling and raft building are all explored under expert and qualified guidance. This adventure is based at Powder Mills Bunkhouse a comfortable granite built bunkhouse with log fire and excellent facilities. This is a very popular trip that High Hopes has run many times.

Ashdown Forest Adventure

A six day adventure based in the middle of Ashdown Forest. Canoeing, climbing, walking, abseiling and raft building are all explored under expert and qualified guidance. For this trip we shall be camping in the beautiful wooded Scout campsite based in the Ashdown Forest just out of East Grinstead in Sussex.

River Wye Canoe Exploration

A six day adventure based at Preston on Wye where we will camp, each day we will be launching from Witney-on-Wye. The River Wye flows through some of the most pleasant Welsh border country. The river is teeming with bird life, swans, ducks and sand martins galore. June / July is probably the best time to canoe the Wye when the weather is generally settled and the cygnets and ducklings are only a few weeks old.

Spanish Activity Experience

For our 2008 Special we are visiting the lovely mountain village of Sella and staying in a 300 year old farmhouse surrounded by typicalSpanash terraces with oranges, lemons and avocadotrees, giivng a real old style Spanish feel. It is an ideal base for canoeing, exploring the countryside, climbing and having fun. ther will be plenty of time to relax and swim after the days activities.

River Wye Canoe Exploration

This canoe adventure is designed for people with a sense of fun and adventure. You may never have canoed before or you may be wheelchair bound, no problem, provided you are prepared to 'muck in' and have a go! The River Wye river flows through some of the most pleasand Welsh border country. The river is teaming with bird life, swans, ducks and sand martins galore. June / July is probably the best time to canoe the Wye, when the weather is generally settled and the cygnets and ducklings are only a few weeks old. We will be launching at Whitney-on-Wye and our campsite will be at Preston on Wye, in a small site on a farm on the river. This is a very basic campsite, a good clean toilet and water. We shall have a mess tent which we can make private for a wash roomwhen needed. It is in a lovely riverside position and within walking distance from a small village.
Each day we paddle in open 2 person boats along a section of this lovely river. This adventure on slow moving water will allow everyone to im,prove their paddling skills. There will of course be the usual night out and we will visit the Yew Tree where our host Mike is an old friend.
Qualified instructors and excellent equipment will ensure your safety throughout the trip.
