LOCATION

The Barton is situated in the delightful doomsday village of Belstone , which lies in the northern tip of the Dartmoor National Park . This traditional Devon “cross passage house” offers you the beauty of Dartmoor on you doorstep (walk from the front door) a real fire, powerful showers, a big bath and quality bedlinen on comfy beds. The house lies in the centre of the village yet has secluded feel. Belstone is easily accessed from the A30 (1/2 mile) and the ancient market town of Okehampton is 3 miles away.

Walking

With walking the most obvious attraction, we have a supply of local maps and guide books to help you plan your walks and make the most of your stay on Dartmoor . You can walk onto the open moor from the house. Belstone's position on the moor means Dartmoor ponies and cattle roam free and are often grazing around the village, so mind them on your way past!

Riding

There are two riding stables in the village, offering a variety of rides across Dartmoor for all abilities.
Eastlake Stables (open all year) and Skaigh Stables.
Because the village of Belstone is situated in the heart of Devon, it makes an ideal base for visiting the West Country's other attractions.

The Barton is close to the popular village pub, The Tors, which serves an excellent selection of traditional pub food and beers. Alternatively the village is within easy driving distance of a number of very good pubs and restaurants including the award winning Dartmoor Inn at Lydford and the CAMRA Pub of the Year The Tom Cobley Tavern at Spreyton.
