Description Welcome Landlord, Simon Saunders, and his staff welcome you to the Ring of Bells. An early, thatched Dartmoor inn, the Ring of Bells has many period features including a 15th century arched door frame, heavy oak doors, low ceilings and beams – and a grandfather clock built into the wall. The inn is a series of cosy rooms heated by open fires. In the evenings candlelight adds to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. In the summer months, the garden is a delight and a real sun-trap, making it a great place to while away an afternoon. The pub changed ownership in December 2008. Since then, the new owners – Steve Bellman and John Milan – have totally re-decorated the ground floor and added their own touches, including antique prints and pewter mugs. But that’s just the start of it – the new owners plan continued investment in the property. In such a lovely setting, the potential is enormous and the local clientele are immensely supportive, pleased at having such a lovely pub back on form again. Future developments include re-opening the old stable bar to increase the ground floor capacity, installing a new kitchen, cellar and toilets, refurbishing bedrooms and replacing and repairing large areas of the inn’s thatched roof. Upstairs at the Ring of Bells are three double en-suite letting rooms reached by fantastic – if steep – granite spiral staircases. All rooms have colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities. There are two further rooms, currently being refurbished, that will be available early this summer. Rooms are £40 per person, per night – based on two people sharing.
