Two Bridges

Two Bridges is an isolated location situated on what some still call "the only usable road on Dartmoor". Whilst of course this is completely untrue (has the author of this saying, I wonder, never heard of the A380?), the name "Two Bridges" is unimaginatively accurate, located in an area where two bridges were once necessary to cross two separate rivers. Modern day visitors will be disappointed, however, to find that the original second bridge of Two Bridges has been replaced by a more modern day bridge to carry traffic to Princetown or Tavistock, and the two bridges seen in the vicinity nowadays are not the original two that gave Two Bridges its unimaginative name.

Two Bridges, while a small place, is the ideal holiday spot for walkers who wish to explore the surrounding moorland. Accomodation is offered in this sheltered spot by those at the Two Bridges Hotel, originally a coaching inn that went by the name Saracen's Head and a popular meeting point for walkers.
